Here we go it’s the start of the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing. All 15 couples will be dancing for our pleasure tonight and this will be our first proper look at the class of 2018. Whilst there is no spoiler and no elimination as all 15 couples will survive to week 2, there will still be a lot to discuss.
Who looks promising for this new series? And who is dead weight and in danger next week? You can let me know your thoughts about that or anything else to do with tonight’s show right here in the comments or over on Facebook or Twitter (tag @davejthorp and include #StrictlySpoiler on Twitter). Each time you join the discussion you earn an entry into the largest competition I have ever run with 4 prizes of a £20 Amazon UK voucher up for grabs each and every week. You can read more about the competition here.
A poll will open here when all the couples have danced. As always you will be able to select up to 3 favourites.

No spoiler incoming tonight but the website moved hosts last weekend in preparation for when it does start getting busy when the spoilers start rolling in. Since I set the new servers up last Sunday they have cost me over £40. If I provide a valuable service for you and you are willing and can afford to help me out with my hosting costs you can do so using THIS LINK (preferred) or the button below.
It’s time for the final part in my four part series where I take a look at each of the 4 finalists and their Strictly journey so far. Last to qualify for the final after surviving the Semi Final Dance Off is Gemma and Aljaz
Best Dance
Gemma and Aljaz’s best dance came in the magic of the Blackpool Tower Ballroom during week 9 when their American Smooth scored 38 with the judges (9,9,10,10)
Worst Dance
We have to go all the way back to week 1 for their worst routine. Their Cha Cha Cha scored just 20 points (4,5,5,6)
Average Score
Gemma and Aljaz have scored 374 points across 13 routines. Weighting the week 5 scores to account for Bruno’s absence this makes for an average of 29.4 the lowest average of all the finalists and a lower average than eliminated couples Aston and Janette and Davood and Nadiya
Number of times in the Dance Off
Gemma and Aljaz survived most of the competition without landing in a dance off, only coming unstuck during last weekend’s Semi Final. Opting to perform their Tango again they survived against Mollie and AJ
Odds of winning
The bookies are extremely split when it comes to rating their chances with prices ranging from 10-1 to an extremely good value 20-1 (and everything in between)
Can they do it? Although on paper they seem by far the weakest couple remaining and several bookmakers have written them off as 20-1 long shots for the glitterball I wouldn’t write them off just yet. As far as the 20-1 prices are concerned they represent in my opinion amazing value for money and I’ve personally bitten the hand off one bookie offering those odds. I personally feel that the 10-1 prices are a fairer reflection on their actual chances of winning tomorrow.
We shouldn’t forget that last series Ore and Joanne were distant outsiders going in to the final and pulled it out of the bag but there’s no doubting that it will take a strong final to do it however looking at their judges choice, show dance and the fact that it is highly probable they will pick their American Smooth as their favourite routine and it could still happen. Their public support kept them out of trouble right until the final dance off of the series too.
What do you think of Gemma and Aljaz? Are you supporting them? Let me know in the comments or over on Facebook or Twitter for your chance to win prizes in the final week of the Strictly Spoiler competition.
Don’t forget you can still vote in this week’s poll and tell me who your champions are

Keep tuned because although there’s no spoilers tomorrow as not even the BBC are stupid enough to pre record the final results there will be lots of discussion and polls to take part in right here at the home of the Strictly Spoiler before, during and after the final.
It’s time for part three in my four part series where I take a look at each of the 4 finalists and their Strictly journey so far. Taking them in the order they qualified for the final next up is Debbie and Giovanni
Best Dance
Debbie and Giovanni’s best dance came in week 7 where they made Craig not only dust the cobwebs off his 10 paddle super early but in a Strictly first he bowed down before Debbie McGee. Their Tango scored a maximum of 40 (10,10,10,10)
Worst Dance
Debbie and Giovanni’s worst routine came in week 4 where their Cha Cha Cha scored 27 (6,6,7,8) with the judges
Average Score
Debbie and Giovanni have scored 441 points across 13 routines. Weighting week 5 to account for the absence of Bruno that makes for an average score of 34.6 which is the second best of all the finalists
Number of times in the Dance Off
Debbie and Giovanni have survived one dance off this series during Blackpool (week 9). Their Spice Girls themed Samba didn’t impress with the public and saw them in the bottom two against Jonnie and Oti
Odds of winning
Debbie and Giovanni are presently 9/4 second favourites with bookmaker Coral to lift the glitterball on Saturday night.
Can they do it? Debbie seems to be a marmite character as far as comments I’ve seen on my social media profiles are concerned. Some people love her and think she’s done amazingly well this series especially as a more mature contestant. Others can’t warm to her for various reasons including a perception that she has had previous dance experience as she was previously trained as a ballet dancer when she was a lot younger.
In spite of the mixed public reception Debbie and Giovanni do have a very real chance of being named champions on Saturday though a lot will depend on their final routines and how much support they can get from the undecided voters during the final
