Strictly Come Dancing 2017 – Week 11 Discussion/Poll

There’s a two for one on spoilers this week as not only will the regular elimination spoiler be coming in later tonight but I’ve also got the spoiler all the newspapers are talking about, but refusing to publish because they don’t want to be struck off the BBC’s christmas card list, and that is The Christmas Special Spoiler

But back onto this week and it’s not only the quarter final of Strictly Come Dancing 2017 but its also time for our annual trip to the musicals with the 6 remaining couples all dancing to routines inspired by the musicals. But who was a west end smash? And who flopped?

You can let me know your thoughts about anything to do with tonight’s show right here in the comments section below (comments only show on single posts and not the homepage – click the title of the post if you are on the homepage to go to the single post)

Or head on over to Facebook or Twitter to join the discussion on those social networks (twitter users tag @davejthorp and include #StrictlySpoiler in your tweets)

Each time you join the discussion you earn entries into the competition to win one of three £20 amazon uk vouchers I have to give away each and every week!

On the subject of which at some point this weekend I will have SIX winners to tell you about as due to other commitments and a site move I didn’t get around to doing last weeks draw. These winners will more than likely be announced on the elimination post tomorrow.

Sorry no poll this week as it’s causing issues with the caching software being used to try and increase server performance at peak times

Spoiler as always will be incoming some time around 10:30pm. To try and combat the site outages that have plagued the site the last few weeks at peak times, the site has this week been moved to a new host who claims to be able to cope with 300 million page views a month but let’s maybe not test that too thoroughly just in case ?. Especially as due to some compatibility issues and time constraints in resolving them I haven’t got a CDN deployed at the moment to take the strain off my server so all load will be on my new server tonight. About 2 of you will have understood that last sentence I’m sure ?

Thanks to everyone who donated money to help fund this site move (or who just wanted to buy me a pint). If you want to help out the site with its current or future hosting costs or simply want to thank me for all the spoilers you can donate using the button below which paypal take a cut from or THIS LINK which paypal don’t take a cut from

Strictly Come Dancing 2017 – Week 11 (Musicals Week) Songs/Dances

Yes I know this is quite a bit later than normal but obviously the recent site move has taken priority for the last few days. On Tuesday, The BBC announced the songs and dances that the remaining 6 couples would be dancing to during musical week tomorrow. And they are……

  • Davood and Nadiya perform an Argentine Tango to The Phantom Of The Opera from The Phantom Of The Opera
  • Joe and Katya will Samba to Money Money from Cabaret
  • Alexandra and Gorka dance the Charleston to Supercalifragilistic from Mary Poppins
  • Debbie and Giovanni perform an American Smooth to Memory from Cats
  • Gemma and Aljaz will Quickstep to Hello Dolly! from Hello Dolly!
  • Mollie and AJ dance the Rumba to Hopelessly Devoted To You from Grease

What do you think of the song choices. As always you can let me know in the comments section below, or over on Facebook or Twitter

Once again I’m letting you guys down on the winners front as again the site move has taken priority. Sorry for that. What I will definitely do is draw a winner for this week and last week on each entry method when I draw this week’s winners over the weekend and all 6 winners will be announced on one of the posts over the weekend.

Don’t forget that the Christmas Special Spoiler is available for your viewing pleasure. As featured in all the newspapers including the front page of The Daily Star (again!). Just as well there isn’t any other important world events happening right now so newspapers can waste their time talking about me!

If you want to help out with my ever increasing hosting costs (now standing at about £70-£80 a month) or simply want to buy me a pint or a christmas present as a thanks for all the spoilers you can donate using the button below (paypal will take a cut from all money sent using the button) or by using this link (paypal will send me all the money). Please only do this if you can afford to do so and do not feel obligated to do so. A few of you have suggested doing something like a kickstarter to raise funds for my ever increasing hosting costs and that may be something to look at next year but not a lot of point doing that now so close to the end of the series.

Site Migration Complete

Took a bit longer than I originally expected but the site should now be back up for most users!

Some elements of the site move had to be done manually and also it took a while for the change of host to spread throughout the internet. Some people may still be pointing to the old host (virgin media in particular seem to be slow at updating their DNS) in which case they’ll see an “origin DNS” error rather than this post. This should clear up in the next few hours.

Thanks to everyone who donated using the donation button who made this site move possible. Whilst I didn’t manage to get a dedicated server I’ve done the next best thing which is something called a VPS. My new host also claims that under my package I should be able to cope with 300million page views a month. Maybe not test that too thoroughly but we’ll see how we go at the weekend.

The site will remain with this host now until the end of the series then I plan to move it back to a cheaper solution during the quieter period as I don’t really fancy paying £70 a month to host the site when cheaper solutions will be fine while Strictly isn’t on.

Donations will remain open and if you want to help out with next years hosting costs or simply want to buy me a pint you can donate using the button below (paypal will take a cut) or this link (all money goes to me)
