Possible Monday Announcement Spoiler

The BBC have taken a break for the weekend but the weekend means nothing for the Strictly Spoiler as I’m on hand to reveal the eleventh 2016 celebrity that the BBC will be revealing on Monday. Obviously this isn’t 100% confirmed and The Strictly Spoiler has been wrong before (once) so don’t take this as gospel but the next contestant may be:

Lesley Joseph

This spoiler has come from a series of clues left on what appeared to be Lesley’s Twitter account along with her being heavily rumoured to be participating anyway and may be accurate but I’m much less certain than I was when I originally posted. See updates below!

UPDATE – Well it seems the BBC have announced another name. If I was cynical I’d think they were waiting for me to make this post. I’m still pretty certain this person will be announced as expected on Monday especially as the BBC are due to reveal all 4 final names on Monday

FURTHER UPDATE – I’m now less certain that this person will be announced as Linda Robson has stated that the twitter account concerned IS NOT Lesley. Of course Lesley has been heavily rumoured by the press and many of the rumours have still come to fruition (Will Young, Anastacia and Ed Balls being three) but I’m now no longer certain that Lesley will be announced on Monday. If she is I’m reasonably certain it will be during The One Show as she isn’t the sort of contestant I would expect to be announced on Scott Mills on Radio 1 which is when one person will be announced (possibly Judge Robert Rinder – which it was so there’s one announced before the BBC :-D)

FURTHER FURTHER UPDATE – The twitter account that was the basis of this spoiler has now been suspended and seems to have been fake. I’m a little disappointed as I’m usually very good at spotting fake twitter accounts. I think my keenness to get at least one name in before the BBC clouded my judgement. Of course she could still be announced later today but I’m now down to 10% certainty from 90%

Lesley is best known for her long time role as Dorien Green in the comedy Birds Of A Feather and at the age of 70 will be the oldest female participant on Strictly Come Dancing. At the time of writing Lesley is a 100-1 shot with bookmaker Coral putting her the outsider along with Ed Balls however that price may change if and when she is confirmed.

Help Shape The Strictly Spoiler In 2016 – Part 1

There’s still a few months to go before the 2016 series of Strictly will kick off but I’m already starting to think about plans for this site during that series and beyond.

However this site is as much your site as it is mine and I’d really like to know what you would like to see when the new series starts.

The first thing I’d like to talk about is competitions. As most of you are I’m sure aware I ran a competition during the 2nd half of the 2015 series where one visitor won a £50 amazon voucher at the end of the series. The prize for this competition was provided out of my own pocket from the advertising revenue this site receives through the adverts it displays.

I am keen to run competitions again this year, as it is one way I can give something back to the people who have made this site the success it has become, but would like to know how often and what level of prize you feel would be best. The options currently being considered are in the poll below:

[poll id=”20″]

These ideas are not definite and may not represent actual final prize values as much will depend on how much traffic the site receives and how much ad revenue I receive in 2016, especially as my hosting costs will be going up so I can keep the site up at peak times. I’m also considering something like a tablet computer rather than vouchers for the larger prize if it was a series long competition or something like a Kindle as the prize on the monthly one. Also if the prizes did stay as gift vouchers are Amazon vouchers something that most visitors are happy with or would you prefer another retailer?

One final thing I am considering is working directly with advertisers who may provide prizes themselves in return for advertising/sponsorship on the site. This could allow the prizes to be bigger than anything I could afford to provide myself (holidays for one example but I might be being optimistic there).

Please let me know your thoughts on anything in this post, or indeed anything else you would like to see from the site this year by voting in the poll, posting in the comments section or on Facebook/Twitter and I’ll probably be back with some more questions about what you’d like to see this year in a few weeks!
