Complaints to the BBC

This week’s spoiler has come from an audience mole through my usual sources and should be accurate.

I’ve got so many prize winners to tell you about this week it’s untrue (well actually it is true). Firstly well done to Sarah Kyle on Twitter who helped to guide Twitter to victory in the rematch of the ultimate smackdown. Sarah won a £75 Amazon UK voucher which is the biggest prize I’ve given away far this series and also earned an entry into the monthly draw. More on that in a minute.

Also congratulations to Gillian Yin who won this week’s weekly competition and won a £20 Amazon UK voucher and earned an entry into the monthly draw too.

But the monthly draw was won by Beth Killen who has won a Kindle Fire Tablet to go with the £20 Amazon UK voucher she won a few weeks ago.

Well done to all the winners! Do you want to win prizes? Of course you do and it is so simple to get involved! You can join the discussion right here at the home of the Strictly Spoiler or head on over to Facebook or Twitter. Please remember to tag @davejthorp and include #StrictlySpoiler over on Twitter. Full details of all the entry routes and an email entry route can be found here!

Stay tuned next week when there will be the final smackdown of the series with Facebook playing for pride in their battle against Twitter. Well pride and a huge £100 Amazon UK voucher perfect for spending in the Boxing Day sales! More details coming soon!

    1. Are you for real? What did he actually has as a dancer? …… nothing, he was bottom of EVERY scoreboard….
He made the entire system a farce! And Gang dam style was the crown glory. The man made walking painful to watch

      1. Yeah and I’m entitled to my opinion! The guy is a ****
he useless and many good Dancers were ditched for the ****. Like I said this is the last Strictly farce for me

        1. Pretty much this. I’ve already had to moderate some comments which I don’t like to do. Different people will have different favourites but there is no need to be rude about the participants and/or other users

      1. Rude….. ha take a hike! You have your opinion, I have mine! As for literate…. no with a Bachelor Degree in English I guess I’m illiterate!

      2. You are being rude and you’re attacking people that agree with your opinion, which makes us question your comprehension skills…

      3. My degree was in Japanese- do not try to go down the path of comparing degrees – Shall I write Very Slowly For you?
I s-a-I-d I loved Ed but thought it was the right result- so what are you going on about ?
I await your response with interest..,

        1. BTW Annette, this is actually nothing against you. It’s just that your comment was the 1 I replied to. And that the replies came back to. e.g. from Karen

      4. Quit with the rudeness, there is no need. Annette has said she has agreed that the result was correct. Pfftttt, some people would argue with an empty room

    1. Yeah, haven’t seen any of xfactor this year after the years of crap, but I’ve heard about honeyless g. Another TV farce being used to make money with online telephone voting

  1. Hooray hooray hooray hooray hooray hooray!!!!! About F!ing time! This is the last Strictly for me. This farce has sounded the final death knoll for me. He should have gone week 1. Strictly has seen so many GOOD dancers go by the way for Ed!

  2. Happy with that result, I felt he had stagnated and wasn’t entertaining anymore (though worried that Ed’s voters will all vote for Rinder now, hoping he goes next week!)

  3. A nice guy who was so obviously enjoying himself but it was time for him to go. I love Judge Rinder but my winner would be Danny and Oti

    1. Because Danny has obviously never had any dance training before the show.
Nope, No siree. A complete novice. Never ever danced before.
Do you want to buy a bridge? Nice view of NYC

      1. Did I say he hadn’t, that would be a no then. I love watching him and Oti, they dance well together. Of course I could root for Louise, who also has training, or Claudia who brings her gymnastic talent into the dance. How about you walk that bridge yourself and burn it once you get to the other side pfftttt

      2. I think both Danny and Louise have had dance training, Louise has even been a judge on a dance show, I do wish people would get off this bandwagon. Yes, learning to dance steps for a West End show or a pop group routine is dance experience, but in some respects having to unlearn things you have previously had drummed into you can be more difficult than starting from scratch. Danny is a natural, that’s all.

        1. Why shouldn’t people bang on about this? We have this weird scenario where someone like Vince Cable is told he can’t take part in Strictly cos he’s had some lessons but someone who had dance training as part of his studies and was paid to be in a musical can…
Plus he’s rather smug and over marked. Anyone who’s been to a real dance competition knows kids do one handed cartwheels in their routines – and get penalised if they don’t get the timing right afterwards. Lol

          1. ‘Bang on about it’ by all means, don’t use it as a reason to trash someone else’s post with a snotty comment like Cuckoo did

    1. What’s God got to do with it?
it’s all about the money honey!!
THE MORE IDIOTS VOTE FOR BALLS THE MORE MONEY THE BBC MAKES!

      1. The cost of the call covers the costs of providing the telephone vote and that is all. The BBC aren’t allowed to profit from telephone voting polls

As per the FAQ on the BBC Strictly website:

“No. BBC does not receive any revenue. Revenue from the calls (if any) goes to charity.”

      2. Revenue from the phone calls for the whole series would just about cover the cost of one or two of the professional dancer.

        1. I agree with you Andy on the point that the BBC should release details of the voting figures after the series has ended and I hate that they claim exemption from the freedom of information act for viewer voting figures, a position backed up by the information commissioners office.

As far as people paying to vote Ed in week after week, thats entirely up to the people in question. They are free to vote for whichever choice they want whether other people agree with it or not. I suspect most of the votes the show receives are free online ones so not as many people as you may think will be parting with their money to vote for their choice. I personally haven’t made a phone vote this series but I have used my free online votes (when I’ve remembered – I’ve forgotten some weeks when I’ve been too busy with this site or social networking)

        2. A lot of people I know were using multiple BBC online accounts to vote for Ed. I have about 5 of such accounts. that 15 votes I could contribute to Ed each week, an I did most weeks, this week I couldn’t bothered so Ed just got three of my votes from my main account.

          1. Oh for goodness sake, have people got nothing better to do that create multiple accounts? Possibly this is the sort of thing that skews polls, if people suggest through 5 different accounts that they will vote one way but only get 1 actual vote in the actual process that counts, we end up with Brexit and Trump…..congratulations!!
Personally glad to see Ed go after that debacle last night, a mistake by Katya in the selection of the role for Ed in the dance, the image of him rubbing his hands up and down his body was so off putting – does he have children, they will be mortified with that?

      3. Get a grip. It’s just a tv programme. If you don’t like what you’re watching then turn it off. Heaven knows there are enough channels to watch something else.

  4. At last. Knew he was liked by many, but pleased to be rid. At least Robert has the rumba behind him now. So improved. Looking forward to rest of show now. Thought judges marks very pointed this week, we know exactly who they want to win now. Odd scoring I thought not very accurate.

  5. Knell – not knoll- as in the tolling of a bell. ???. As you have a degree am assuming you know that (?) and it was just a typo.

  6. Can I remind people of the need to play nicely with each other!! I’ve already had to moderate far more comments than I like to and I really don’t want to have to start handing out bans.

This was always going to be a divisive result given Ed’s popularity with some viewers (myself included) but his equal unpopularity with other viewers. There is no need to direct personal attacks at each other or at the participants be they in the text of the comments or in usernames set up on disqus.

  7. For me wrong result and I would rather that the sports presenter went. Ed was my favorite and he was what it was about. Others have dancing experience and I would rather watch Edd and Robert.

  8. At last the right result. The thing i love about the strictly spoiler is the diversity of the ppl who comment every one has their own opinion and is entitled to it . Now ive said that Ed should have gone week 1 but ive not been rude about it… please calm down and enjoy the show. I have often thought that there should be 2 scores one for techniqual ability and one for entertainment and then that would even out what ppl love about strictly

    1. I do hate it when that happens – there is also the rather insidious habit of editing the post after others have commented, which makes their later input look nonsensical!

      1. Yeah it’s messed up the discussion flow although in fairness the person concerned was very close to having some of their comments removed by me anyway. This dance off result brought quite a lot of arguing last night given that people either loved Ed or couldn’t understand why he was still in

  9. Wouldn’t it be fun to get some actual regular run of the mill dance judges, cover up the top half of the screen (thanks to Dan Walker on the ITT Friday panel for that suggestion) so they weren’t aware of the dancer and ask them to judge the leg action on the CC Challenge? (Obviously they wouldn’t get the whirling dervish camera work that we the viewing public get). I wonder if Louise’s many bent leg steps would have put her at the top of their leaderboard? They could also have another bit where they covered the bottom of the screen, to check on who was looking down a lot at their feet…..wonder who might not score as well then?
I have nothing against Louise, she is a lovely person and I like Kevin too, but the judges are unfortunately putting her in the position of teacher’s pet and we know what happened to Kellie last year. Why can’t they just give us a fair result on these things, rather than use it as an opportunity to ensure top billing for their favourite? It won’t go unnoticed nor punished by the GBP.

    1. I think the CC challenge result was fair and correct, I would have given Louise the 6 points as well although it was close between her and Danny.
