Strictly Come Dancing 2016 – Week 6 Discussion/Poll

It’s week 6 and the annual Halloween Spooktacular is upon us. There will be plenty to discuss as the 10 remaining couples go all out in their halloween costumes dancing for survival.

But whose routine was haunting and whose was just ghastly? You can tell me your thoughts on that or anything else to do with this week right here in the comments or over on Facebook and Twitter (please remember to tag @davejthorp and include #StrictlySpoiler over on Twitter).

Each time you join the discussion you are earning entries into the competition to win a £20 Amazon UK Voucher and possibly win a Kindle Fire Tablet in the monthly draw. Full details on the competition and all the entry routes can be found here.

Weekly and Monthly draws both took place today and the winners will be announced right here when the spoiler is posted.

As usual a poll will open right here at the end of the show once all the couples have danced this week which will give you something to do whilst you are refreshing the site waiting for the spoiler to come in. You can select 3 options just like always. Or why not join the discussion whilst waiting for the spoiler right here in the comments section and tell me and everyone else what you think! You could win prizes just for joining the discussion!

  1. I’m probably a bit of a purist but I tend to find the Halloween routines a bit too wacky in dancing terms albeit very entertaining.

  2. Normally the themes take over in Halloween but this year it wasn’t to bad. I didn’t hate it this year which is rare for me.

  3. Wtf how can anybody give Ed Balls up an 8????? And how can he scored higher than Anastasia?? I think Brendan ‘s face said it all. She’s never gonna get lots of support from a British audience being American but she is marked far more harshly than the others.

    1. I agree with it. Purely for entertainment value. Both were danced so badly however Ed so bad it was good!

  4. Found it all a bit disappointing compared to previous years. Did like Greg and Nat’s routine though. Marking as usual all over the place.

  5. Why does Laura poll so low? I love her and have done from the beginning but she’s never been popular here or apparently on the show either, bottom two fairly early on as I recall?

    1. You’ve got me. I really like Laura and Giovanni too but I don’t know why they don’t seem to be resonating with the audience. Only thing I can think of is all the crap the press was trying to whip up about Georgia and Giovanni splitting up

      1. Hmm, now Daisy doesn’t draw me in. Dancing is competent and there’s the Aljaz factor of course but I think she comes across as glacial, sad to say. Heidi who does the fun live Strictly blog on the Guardian says sometimes Daisy phones it in sometimes. I want to like her but she leaves me a bit on the cool side. It is fascinating to find that sweet spot between enjoying their performance and their personality and their dancing being good/great as we get closer to the end.

    2. I love Laura, I think she’s a great person and dancer. I love that she’s improving unlike a few that have had dance lessons in stage school. I think Giovanni has made an amazing effort – do you remember he couldn’t speak a word of English at the start last year?! I think a lot of people don’t understand Laura. All that drama about Giovanni and Georgia splitting up has backfired. I really hope she can get past it because I believe she will go far.

        1. As long as she keeps improving I think the judges would savebe her in the dance off, but hopefully it won’t come to that. 🙂

  6. Usually like Halloween week but this year it just felt a wee bit meh. Love that Greg always goes out and give his all but feel a bit like he does a dance and forgets what he’s learned where he should be building upon it. Concerned that, as much as I respect Ed for going out week after week, that public are voting for him as a bit of a joke 🙁

On a positive note, can someone send make-up a gift basket? Think they earned it tonight

  7. I usually love Hallowe’en week but this year, hair and make up great, music choices lousy! Considering the song that Louise and Kevin had I thought they made a good job of the charleston but it was never going to be great

    1. I agree, wish the music was more traditional but guess that won’t happen. Thought Gregs Rumba was very good don’t know what Craig was on about. Robert rinders Paso was better than daisies but again Craig’s marking very weird tonight.

  8. What a great job hair, make up and costumes did… just fantastic. Whats with the music choices!! who makes these ridiculous decisions. overall they all did great considering .. but please stop voting for ed while hes funny and entertaining he really cannot dance and he now needs to go.

  9. i do hope the judge gets through would love to see him dance at blackpool but i did not feel it was his best tonight

  10. It’s something obvious that the judges have favourites. I sometimes wonder if I’m watching the same dance as everyone else! Incidentally, my uncle and aunt, Jack and Bemil McGregor, were world ballroom champions in 1951.

    1. Agree with you Annette, especially Craig. He does not like Judge Rinder. What did you think about Gregs Rumba, was it or wasn’t it?

      1. There wasn’t enough Rumba content, I think, but he shouldn’t be penalised for that. He danced what he was given very well although his shaping wasn’t all it could be.

        1. It was the only one I really enjoyed tonight, there was something very badly missing and the awful music choices did not help

  11. Seriously who in their right mind is voting for Ed Balls up. Too many people have gone prematurely because of some people’s perverse amusement at keeping someone in who is making themselves look more and more ridiculous every week

  12. I just wished they’d dropped the silly stuff prior to the dance. I don’t mind seeing them in training but trying to do Halloween themed stuff along with Halloween add-ons to names was just daft.

  13. Like others on here this year’s Halloween didn’t grab me. Not sure if it was the music or the choreography or maybe the theme is just played out.

  14. Enjoyed the show. Claudia and AJ surprised me this week with their American Smooth. Loved both the Charlestons with Kevin winning in the Clifton Charleston dance off.

  15. I agree with most people. The music choices weren’t great tonight and yet again the judges are over marking their favourites and under marking the others. How can you score Danny a 9 when he made 2 obvious mistakes? As usual though all the back room staff (hair, make up and costumes) excelled themselves.

  16. Who actually chooses the songs? Logically it should be the proverbial dancers once they know what dance they are doing but clearly that isn’t how it works.
